Job Description
A Legacy Of Law
Mr. Crawford’s father, James E. Crawford Sr., began practicing law in 1960 in Baltimore City. He handled many of the same types of cases that his son handles today. Throughout his career, he collaborated with lawyer Peter Angelos on numerous significant and noteworthy cases. He actively participated in Maryland’s political landscape until his passing in 2008.
At our law firm, we take great pride in upholding this esteemed legacy. Leveraging Jim Sr.’s achievements, Jim founded this law firm in 1992 and personally trained each of our experienced attorneys to advocate assertively on behalf of our clients. By building upon the groundwork laid by Jim Sr., our law firm possesses an unparalleled wealth of knowledge, creativity, and legal skills that have been honed over two generations of practicing law in Maryland.
Principles
JC Law is radically truthful, constantly transparent, and deeply committed to our Mission to serve people in Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Washington, D.C. throughout the legal system, however and whenever they need us.
Mission
JC Law champions its clients in the legal system, fighting for their opportunity for justice and pursuit of happiness enshrined in the United States Constitution.
JC Law wins, because our clients need us to. Our mission is to shape the next generation of legal professionals in order to create a more just and accessible legal system in service to our clients. That is why we fight. That is why we do what we do.
Core Values
The Law Offices of James E. Crawford, Jr. & Associates, LLC exists to serve our clients. They are not an inconvenience, but the reason behind everything we do. Our clients deserve expert, passionate representation—and that’s what they’ll get from every member of our Firm.
Perfecting The Art Of Law
Since day one, we have been dedicated to perfecting the art of handling legal matters and achieving superior results. Jim has personally handled thousands of cases in his career and takes great pride in applying his expertise to deliver the outcomes you need. Our team of attorneys has collectively handled thousands more.
However, practicing law is not just an art; it also involves understanding the human element. Judges, prosecutors, lawyers, police, and defendants all bring their unique perspectives to any legal issue. The key to successfully handling legal matters, whether it’s criminal defense or divorce, lies in not only understanding the law but also identifying the weaknesses of the opposing parties. Where is the weak link? Often, we can discover that link, break the chain, and successfully conclude the case.
At our law office, we leverage the latest technology, investigators, and other resources to gather factual and legal research evidence, giving us an edge over our opponents. We recognize the importance of taking immediate action when necessary.
Our dedication has earned Jim and our team members recognition as premier attorneys, resulting in numerous referrals from colleagues and former clients. This is a point of pride for us.

What We Are Looking For
Must Have a Very Strong Work Ethic
Most firms, including us, will look at your history to make a determination as to how you will perform in the future. We realize that is not always the case, especially as lawyers grow and mature into the profession. A strong GPA, Law Review, or something equivalent, and a top class ranking are all indicators of future success in a career and practice.
Have a Winning Attitude
A winning attitude and functioning under pressure are extremely important. Law school and the practice of law tend to show how you will handle the same. Working with others, and putting elbow grease into the equation, is a sign that you want to help your client succeed.
Effort Over & Beyond
We are looking for future senior lawyers and partners. How you handle yourself at an early stage will set the tone and possibilities for advancement!
Know How to Organize & Communicate
These are traits that cannot be overstated. In our profession this is what we do! Everything we touch, try to fix and work on utilizes these skill sets!
Writing Ability
This is one of the foundations for growing a career. There is no substitute for developing this ability. Not all of us are fantastic writers, but the important thing is that we make major efforts to improve and reach a proficient level!
Culture & Success Driven
Finding a way to help others and being a team player will set you apart from other lawyers in our industry. At the same time, having a winning drive and a non-stop attitude of creating success will also help create a practicing habit that is unstoppable!
Why JC Law Feels Like More Than Just a Job: It’s a Calling
From the moment I walked through the doors of JC Law, I knew this wasn’t just another law firm. There was a different energy, a palpable sense of purpose that resonated with my own ambitions. Now, having spent time immersed in the JC Law culture, I can confidently say that working here is not just a job, it’s a calling—a chance to make a real difference in the lives of people in Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Washington, D.C., when they need it most.
As James E. Crawford, Jr., the founder of JC Law, so eloquently puts it, “When I started practicing law, I believed it was an absolute privilege to help people in their time of need. I still believe that with all my heart.” That belief is the very foundation upon which JC Law is built. It’s a sentiment that permeates every aspect of our work, from the initial consultation to the final resolution of a case. We’re not just lawyers; we’re beacons of hope, guiding our clients through the often-turbulent waters of the legal system.
What makes JC Law so unique? It’s not just one thing, but a combination of factors that create a truly special and rewarding work environment.
A Legacy of Service and a Commitment to Truth
JC Law isn’t just a firm; it’s a legacy. Founded in 1992 by Jim Crawford, it builds upon the foundation laid by his father, James E. Crawford Sr., who began practicing law in Baltimore City in 1960. This rich history instills a deep sense of responsibility and a commitment to upholding the highest standards of legal practice. The principles that guide us – radical truthfulness and constant transparency – ensure that we always act with integrity and in the best interests of our clients.
This commitment extends beyond just legal expertise. We understand that our clients are going through incredibly challenging times, whether they’re facing a difficult divorce, defending themselves against criminal charges, or navigating complex civil litigation. That’s why we approach every case with compassion, empathy, and a genuine desire to help.
A Mission That Matters
Our mission at JC Law is clear: to champion our clients in the legal system, fighting for their opportunity for justice and the pursuit of happiness, rights enshrined in the United States Constitution. It’s a powerful statement, but it’s more than just words on a page. It’s the driving force behind everything we do. We win because our clients need us to. This isn’t just a job for us; it’s a responsibility. We understand that our clients are relying on us to protect their rights, defend their interests, and help them navigate the complexities of the legal system. We pour our hearts and souls into every case, knowing that the outcome can have a profound impact on our clients’ lives.
Furthermore, we are dedicated to shaping the next generation of legal professionals. Our goal is to create a more just and accessible legal system. This is something we strive for in service to our clients, and it is why we fight with such fervor.
Core Values That Guide Us
At JC Law, our core values aren’t just platitudes; they’re the guiding principles that shape our interactions with clients, colleagues, and the community. We believe that our clients are the reason we exist. They are not an inconvenience, but the very heart of our purpose.
Every client deserves expert, passionate representation. That’s what we strive to provide, from every member of our firm. We understand that they are often going through incredibly difficult times, and we treat them with the respect and compassion they deserve.
Perfecting the Art of Law
Practice makes perfect. At JC Law, we’re constantly striving to hone our skills and perfect the art of handling legal matters. Jim Crawford has personally handled thousands of cases, and our team of attorneys has collectively handled thousands more. This experience gives us a deep understanding of the law, the court system, and the nuances of law.
However, we also recognize that practicing law is not just an art; it also involves understanding the human element. Judges, prosecutors, lawyers, police, and defendants all bring their unique perspectives to any legal issue. The key to successfully handling legal matters lies in not only understanding the law but also identifying the weaknesses of the opposing parties. Where is the weak link? Finding and exploiting that weakness is often the key to a successful outcome.
We also understand the importance of leveraging the latest technology, investigators, and other resources to gather factual and legal research evidence. This gives us an edge over our opponents and allows us to build the strongest possible case for our clients. When necessary, we are prepared to take immediate action to protect our clients’ interests.
A Positive and Supportive Environment
Beyond the legal expertise and dedication to our clients, JC Law fosters a positive and supportive work environment. There’s a genuine sense of camaraderie among the team members, and we all share a common goal: to provide the best possible service to our clients.
The leadership at JC Law understands the importance of work-life balance and encourages us to prioritize our well-being. This creates a healthy and sustainable work environment where we can thrive both personally and professionally.
A Commitment to Client Satisfaction
Ultimately, the success of JC Law is measured by the satisfaction of our clients. We are committed to providing each client with:
- An overall professional and positive experience
- Respect and compassion during often difficult times
- Experienced attorneys with a deep understanding of the judicial system and every aspect of Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Washington, D.C. law
- Zealous legal representation to champion your best interests at every turn
