Women & Divorce
We don’t represent just one or the other; we represent both men and women. Just as men face bias in family law and divorce, so do women face their own forms of bias and prejudice, and we want you to know that we understand. If you’re a woman and a mother, you have some significant hurdles to overcome and goals you want to achieve when it comes to divorce.
Why Hire The Law Offices of James E. Crawford, Jr. & Associates?
Since 1992, our practice as lawyers has revolved around helping individual people and families throughout Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania, and DC. We’ve learned that nothing in the law is guaranteed. Just because you’re a mother, for instance, doesn’t mean that you’ll win custody of your children. You need a strong advocate. Consider letting us represent you.
Divorce Legal Advice & Help for Women
Divorce can be difficult. Much of that difficulty lies in the unknown. We want you to know that the relationship you have with your children, for example, won’t go away, and we will do all we can to help you achieve your goals.
Here’s what you need to know:
- Spousal support. If you’re a working mother with primary custody, you’ll need enough child support and spousal support (alimony) from your ex-spouse to cover things like daycare and educational expenses, in addition to paying for the basics.
- Child custody. You’ll want the right kind of custody arrangement, whether you have primary or joint custody, including a parenting plan that works for everyone in the long term.
- Domestic violence. Abuse often happens to women (and to a lesser extent, men), which can taint the entire divorce process. It can make you feel powerless.
Our job as divorce attorneys is to give you a voice.
