Well, that was a more exciting January than we think anyone expected. Not to mention that massive snow storm that only just rolled through!
However, whatever life throws our way, we take it in the teeth and throw punches back — as this latest edition of [nap_names id=”FIRM-NAME-1″] Monthly Matters shows.
We’ve rounded up a few exceptional wins [nap_names id=”FIRM-NAME-1″] attorneys are especially proud of from last month.
Welcome to [nap_names id=”FIRM-NAME-1″], Haley Mendola!
Please greet [nap_names id=”FIRM-NAME-1″]’s newest attorney, Haley Mendola, Esq..
Previously, Haley worked as an Associate Attorney at the Mike Slochumb Law Firm, LLC. During her time with them, she fought for her clients on a wide variety of legal issues, including:
- Wrongful death suits;
- Personal injury actions;
- Medical debt resolution;
- Civil litigation; and
- Mediation.
Haley graduated from the Elon University School of Law with her Juris Doctor degree, during which time she spent 75+ hours on pro bono legal services. While at Elon, she served as a Juvenile Unit Legal Intern with the Allegheny County District Attorney’s Office.
Shortly after graduation, Haley became a Resident-in Practice at the Offices of J. Scott Smith, PLLC, arguing for clients in court for cases ranging from DUI trials and other criminal law matters, to domestic & family law cases.
Here at [nap_names id=”FIRM-NAME-1″], Haley will be working on a wide variety of Maryland cases under the supervision of Domestic Partner and Senior Litigator Zack Groves.
[nap_names id=”FIRM-NAME-1″] Domestic Department Matters
Congratulations to Itta Englander, Associate Attorney, who won a preliminary battle in a complex domestic litigation case for our client that’s still ongoing. She managed to get temporary child support and attorney’s fees for the client, much to their delight.
The client has specifically said they appreciated both Itta and her supervising attorney Zack Groves‘s overall handling of the case from the beginning, and they look forward to what more we can accomplish on their behalf.
Congratulations to Katelynn Watkins, Associate Attorney, who made her first court appearance as a [nap_names id=”FIRM-NAME-1″] attorney in January. She managed the direct examination of the client, and in the end, we won the entire matter — getting the protective order request denied on behalf of our client.
Double congratulations are due to Aaron Goodwin, Associate Attorney, for multiple client victories the past month. For one case, Aaron managed to convince the opposing party to pay our client child support at four times the actual child support guidelines.
In another matter, Aaron convinced the court to find the opposing party in contempt of a standing court order while winning back some attorney’s fees for our [nap_names id=”FIRM-NAME-1″] client.
Last but not least, congratulations to Flo Tabaku, Supervising Attorney, who recently won a final peace order hearing on behalf of his client. Thanks to that win, our client will keep their security clearance!
[nap_names id=”FIRM-NAME-1″] Criminal Department Matters
Congratulations again to Mark Sobel, Criminal Department Manager & Senior Litigator, for convincing the state prosecutors to put our client’s case on the STET docket and release them from home detention. Thanks to Mark, our client kept a serious home invasion charge off his criminal record.
Mark didn’t stop there, though! He also won a major district court trial in Anne Arundel county over alleged assault charges. Our client was found not guilty on all charges!
Again, we congratulate Angel Campbell, Associate Attorney, for persuading a local judge to assign our client to home detention until trial — instead of jail — as we wait for his domestic assault trial.

Here are some of the reviews [nap_names id=”FIRM-NAME-1″] is especially proud of that were submitted last month.
PHENOMENAL TEAM!
Exclusively a 1st Class team. From my consultation thru post successful absolute divorce follow up. The process was flawless. The Law Offices of James Crawford, Jr. and Associates, LL are a resilient team to be reckoned with.
Florian [Tabaku], I appreciate your professionalism, wisdom, and step by step guidance. You helped me more than words can express. Be safe and well.
I have nothing but great things to say about this Firm, esp Mr. [Timothy] Sutton and Jacqueline Hawkins. Throughout the ordeal, they were both incredibly responsive, professional, and helped see us through to a wonderful outcome for my family. Highly recommended.
Cannot stress enough how much these folks have helped with my legal needs. I would highly recommend calling them!! 🙂
Dear Mr. [Francis] Lanasa.
Thank you so much for your advice and counsel regarding my daughter this week. I have some very good news. After speaking with you, we learned that a decision was going to be made by UMD today.
We reached out to the School of Education to find out if [my daughter] would be given an opportunity to speak with officials about her actions. We were notified this morning that they would meet with [my daughter,] me and [her father].
The meeting happened very quickly and I didn’t have time to notify you, but after that meeting, they made a decision to extend [my daughter] a second chance and keep her in the program. She will be able to complete this semester and graduate on time.
I’m certain that our meeting would not have been as successful without your advice, guidance, and assurances earlier this week. We can’t thank you enough and will be sure to refer our friends and family to you in the future. Hopefully, we will not be needing your services again for this type of crisis, but rest assured if we do, you will be hearing from us.
(Please note: Not all client “wins” will be shared out of privacy concerns, and details may be modified or obscured. We complete dozens of cases every month in a variety of matters from family and criminal to civil and beyond; this is just a sample of our accomplishments. Also remember that these results may not be possible in your own case, but the only way to know for sure is to ask us about it!)
