All Defendants vs. United States Government et al.

Just a quick note since I have not written for a while. Recently, I lost my father who was a lawyer for many years.  We all get good things and bad things from our parents but one of the good things I received from him was a healthy dose of skeptisim about govermental intrusion on individual rights as guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution and the Maryland Declaration of Rights. His deep belief that individual liberties are very hard to “get back” once they have been taken away by government has been documented in many forms over the course of history. The real battle is not based on the belief that all government is bad or evil–in fact government is in general a “good thing” so to speak. The real battle lies in each indiviual case whenever the police try to “get over” on a Defendant by not jumping through constitutional hoops. That could mean fabricating evidence or simply not treating a Defendant fairly while he /she is in custody. The fight continues……
